Is the deflection of electrons by a non uniform B field up and down, or are we looking only at the top part of a circle and call that up? Looking only at the bottom part of the circle and call that down.
Intensity will tell.
Otherwise B field deflection has no directional bias in the case of electrons in simple linear translation motion not in a helical path with a particular rotational sense (clockwise/anti-clockwise).
