And A Child Is Born...

At the next level, a new nucleus of charge  \(+2\),

This "nucleus" behave just like a single proton that we started with,

A new series starts at Beryllium.

Each bond between two atoms share two electrons.  In three dimensions, all the bond angles are equal.  This lattice has no free electrons, this would makes the element non-conductive and very much less reactive compared to the previous element, Li.  It would be more crystalline than metallic.  Since there is only two linkage between atoms in the lattice, this element is expected to be brittle.
