There was another temple in a mountain, with another cup of life. That temple was in perpetual rain. Some mechanism lifts underground water together with water from the cup of life into the air and fogs up the mountain top.
When that temple was destroyed and the cup stolen, all of Central Asia dries up and went dead. The situation that is now.
So, do not remove the cup. Let the cup of life operate in peace.
