Ganglioside Sialidase Deficiency also known as Mucolipidosis type IV (ML IV), is caused by mutations in the MCOLN1 gene, which encodes a protein called mucolipin-1. This mutation can be the result of radiation exposure including UV rays, radioactive pollutants.
It can also be due to poison like ricin that blocks protein production.
