the platonic edge structures draw energy and this energy is confined by the plaster/water, clay/water, etc, envelop. Holding the stone tight drains its energy. Spinning the stone also causes the energy stored to emerge. Breaking the stone by throwing it hard against a hard surface might be explosive.
